高校１年　スピーチコンテストを開催しました

The speech contest for 10^th graders

In the past three speech contests, “What I Learned from Traveling” was our most popular topic, but this year we had to replace that with “What I Learned from the Covid Crisis.” Half of the finalist speeches had something about this important problem.

Covid also changed the way we held the contest. Instead of gathering in a big space, we gathered online. Students watched the contest via Zoom and voted for their favorite finalists on via Google Classroom. The judges’ and the students’ choices were the same—they all listened carefully! We hope we can have a “normal” contest next year, but now we are ready for anything!

過去３回のスピーチコンテストでは「旅行から学んだこと」が主なトピックでしたが、今年は「新型コロナウイルス禍から学んだこと」に置き換える必要がありました。 ファイナリストのスピーチの半分は、この重要な問題について見解を表明するものでした。

新型コロナウイルスの影響で、コンテストの開催方法も変更しました。 全員での集会形式の代わりに、オンラインで集まり開催をしました。 生徒はZoomでコンテストを視聴し、Google Classroomでお気に入りのファイナリストに投票しました。 全員がファイナリストのスピーチに注意深く耳を傾けていて、審査員と学生の投票結果は同一となりました。来年は「通常の」コンテストができることを願っていますが、生徒達にはどんな状況にも対応できる準備が整っています！
